6th Grade Jaguar Choir

We all have a voice and when that voice meets other voices in song, it can be a powerful and beautiful experience! In choir, we take the time to learn and solidify the basics of singing as an individual and as an ensemble. We sing in unison and 2 part harmony through a diverse gathering of repertoire from around the world/different time periods. Yes, we even sing in different languages! Through music theory training, choir students will also learn to break the code of music notation and develop a musical language. We work diligently at becoming young professionals who excel in musicianship and performance!

During the school year, there will be plenty of opportunity for students to perform and showcase their talents through concerts and competitions. Jaguar Choir is a Mixed Choir comprised of all students from 1st, 2nd, & 3rd Period Choir. We will have choir class every school day. There will be a rehearsal the day before every concert. Please see the choir calendar or choir handbook for important choir dates.

5th Grade Music

Music is such an important part of our daily lives that often we forget what it even is! In 5th grade music class at Jamison, students will take time to dig deep into what music is: rhythm, meter, pitch, dynamics, etc. Students will learn music theory concepts and put them into practice through singing, playing classroom instruments, and even making new music! 

All 5th grade students at Jamison will take music class for 9 weeks. During this time, I hope all students will enjoy learning and acquiring new skills. 

Choir Club

Choir Club is an opportunity for 5th and 6th graders to meet outside of regular class and sing together. 5th graders who attend Choir Club will be invited to sing one song with 6th grade choir members at a concert. Choir Club is optional, but highly recommended for 5th graders interested in joining choir in 6th grade
