6th Grade Jaguar Choir

We all have a voice and when that voice meets other voices in song, it can be a powerful and beautiful experience. In choir, we take the time to learn and solidify the basics of singing as an individual and as an ensemble. We sing in unison and 2 part harmony through a diverse gathering of repertoire from around the world/different time periods. Yes, we even sing in different languages. Through music theory training choir students will also learn to break the code of music notation and develop a musical language. We work diligently at becoming young professionals who excel in musicianship and performance. During the school year there will be plenty of opportunity for students to perform and showcase their talents through concerts and competitions. Jaguar Choir is a Mixed Choir comprised of all students from 1st, 2nd, & 3rd Period Choir. Most of our rehearsing takes place during the school day, but we also occasionally meet for after school rehearsals. 

Bel Canto Honor Choir

Bel Canto Honor Choir is an award-winning choral ensemble. Bel Canto performs at competitions, festivals, at school functions, and around the community. Membership into Bel Canto is open to 5th and 6th grade students who audition. We aim to sing with proper vocal tone and an ensemble sound. We work to read music notation, sight sing on solfege and sing in unison and 2 part harmony. Auditions are usually held in the fall and the spring. Bel Canto performs at competitions, festivals, school functions and around the community.

Cantabile Honor Choir

Cantabile Honor Choir is a new ensemble to Jamison Middle School as of 2024-2025. It is an advanced ensemble and is only available to 6th grade choir students (or 6th grade former Bel Canto Members) who demonstrate a strong understanding of rhythm (whole, half, quarter, and 8th notes), solfege (with Curwen Hand signs), can identify letter names on the music staff, and use proper vocal technique and ensemble singing. Cantabile will perform at competitions, festivals, school functions, and around the community.  We hone the music theory and singing skills that we learned in 5th grade and sing in unison, 2 part, and 3 part harmony.
